MEETING DATES FOR 2002

It was decided that the first meeting would take place on 29th Jan 2002. All other meeting dates will be published in PNW in due course.

1)AOB

Chris Bromley (Area Chairman) stated that most clubs should have received their re-affiliation packs by now. If they had not, check with the office that they had gone out. Chris commented that the office had received a large influx of memberships already, over 2,500 in the first week of December.

Chris outlined some of the changes that had been agreed with the CAA in connection with large models. These included much stricter flight testing of model and pilots. The changes will come into force in April. He added that the CAA was looking into the operation of gas turbines especially. Chris also stated that the BMFA were looking at the new template for planning permission (PPG17) and assessing its effect good or bad on model flying activities.

There followed a discussion on changes and appointments within the BMFA.

Allan Cantwell (Compton Hall MFC) informed the meeting that 49% of Barton had been sold and that a large leisure development is planned for the site. He added that he would keep the Area informed of any developments.

Finally he informed the meeting of a Slope Fly-In which is to take place on the 27th Dec in the Oldham area. Flyers would meet at Junction 22 of the M62 at 9.30 and leave for the slope being used at 10.30 prompt.

The Meeting ended at 10.55pm. These minutes are provisional until approved at the next AGM.
