1) APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
Chris Bromley FSMAE / Area Chairman was unwell and therefore unable to attend.
2) CORRESPONDENCE
None.
3) MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
7/01/03
There were some minor corrections noted.
These were proposed as a true record by Timperley DMFC, seconded by Timperley
MF. Passed unanimously.
4) MATTERS ARISNG
There were no matters arising from the minutes.
5) OFFICERS REPORTS
Roy Allam (Area Ach. Sch. Co-Ord) reported that the club affiliation forms are
coming through quickly.
Geoff Pomfret (Area Scale Comp Sec) stated that he had spoken to Roy Lever about the inclusion of Rapier rocket motors in the "Jet X" section of the Eddie Riding Competition. Roy insisted that only Jet X powered model were eligible for the trophy. Geoff added that he thought that we should proceed with the inclusion of Rapier motors, remarking that John O Donnel had already offered a trophy for the class.
6) COUNCIL AGENDA
Mike Colling FSMAE (Area Delegate) said that the society was now in possession
of a trailer. And that this was available by anyone, subject to availability.
The trailer must be booked with the office.
Gerry Ferer said that the meeting had been quite unhappy with the details of the purchase.
There followed a discussion on the SW Area's proposal for "incentives" to encourage people to take A or B tests. The meeting agreed that we should not support this proposal.
Steve Ogden (Area Sec) said that Chris Bromley FSMAE would be unable to attend the next Area Council meeting and that an alternate would be required. As no one was forthcoming Steve Ogden said that he would attend in his place.
7) BMAC
Sue Reeves (Area Ed Co Ord) stated that the BMAC meeting was scheduled for 22/02/03
at the office. Sue also made known her concerns over teachers leaving volunteers
alone with children.
Mike Colling FSMAE as his education work involved dealing with children he had already been police checked.
Sue continued by saying that she thought that we should at least be providing refreshments of some sort at the finals. She added that it seems that many schools are unaware of BMAC.
David Lloyd Jones (Area PRO) suggested that an advert in BMFA News for teachers
to help promote the BMAC could be productive. The meeting agreed that he should
pursue this action.

There followed a discussion on the event. Gerry Ferer was still concerned over the finances of BMAC and wished that a full breakdown of the expenditure were made generally available.

8) NW AREA INDOOR R/C FLY - IN
David Lloyd Jones (Area PRO) stated that the Indoor Fly-In has had to be postponed.
This because the venue was to undergoing renovation work. He added that the
delay would mean that the venue was not available for up to 3 months. David
suggested that we plan the event for later in the year maybe September onwards.
The meeting agreed.

9) NW AREA FLY - IN
Steve Ogden (Area R/C Comp Sec) said that after some careful negotiations and
personal assurances Roy Lever had agreed to allow us to use his field for the
Area Fly-In. This would take place on 27th July at the usual venue. David Lloyd
Jones (Area PRO) could now proceed with the posters.

10) PNW EDITOR
The meeting was asked if anyone would like to take on the position. As there
was no response the item was to defer this matter to the next meeting.
Steve Ogden (Area Sec) said that as an interim measure he would be willing to add notices of events to the end of the distributed minutes.
11) AOB
Alan Cantwell (Oldham DMAC) wanted to know why we were not making the most of
publicising the Nationals. There followed a detailed discussion on the matter.
The meeting eventually decided to submit a proposal to council that the first
issue of the BMFA News be dedicated to the reporting of the event and also the
FF Nats. It was decided that David Lloyd Jones would put together the exact
wording for the submission. (see attached document)
This was proposed by Oldham DMAC and seconded by CLMG
For 9 Against 3 Abstentions 1
The proposal was carried.
ACTION DLJ & SO
Geoff Pomfret (Area Scale Comp Sec) said that he was concerned that several paste tables were listed as assets, when in fact they had been "mislaid" for quite some time. It was proposed that these items be deleted from the records.
This was proposed by PMAG and seconded by CLMG
Unanimously passed.
David Lloyd Jones (Area PRO) suggested that we should present a trophy at the
NW Area Fly-In, in celebration of 100 years of powered flight. There was a very
drawn out discussion of the matter. With several amendments and addition talked
about. Unfortunately no proposal received a seconder and the matter was dropped.
Roy Allam (Area Vice Chairman) advised the meeting that after some research he had come across some Area minutes from 6th May 1944. Several persons asked for copies.
The meetings ended at 10.30
These minutes are provisional until approved at the next meeting.
