1) APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
Max Lloyd sent his apologies for not being able to attend. Also Carlisle & DMFC, and Jim Radcliffe apologised for not being able to attend. At this point Chris Bromley (Area Chairman) informed the meeting of the death of Louisa Stott Clarke. The Midland Area Secretary and wife of our former NW Area Sec. Eric Clarke. The meeting was saddened by the news and sent their condolences to Eric.

2) CORRESPONDENCE
Steve Ogden ( Area Sec) had received a letter from Carlisle & DMFC setting out their strong objections to the Northern Area's proposal at the next Council meeting.

3) MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING 27/04/04

Some corrections were made.
These were proposed as a true record by Tymperley MF, seconded by CCMAA.
Passed unanimously.

4) MATTERS ARISNG
Alan Cantwell initiated a discussion on a recent TV feature about a club Nr. Clitheroe having flying sit problems. The exact circumstances were a little unclear but it seemed that a lack of communication and co-operation had made the situation worse than it could have been and had resulted in a ban on flying at the site involved.

Gerry Ferer asked if Chris Bromley had a date for the issue of the FF rulebook for this year. He also wanted to know why had it been so late?. Chris Bromley replied that he had been waiting for FAI rules to be confirmed before he could publish the book. He added that the constraints on him meant that he could not publish earlier.

5) OFFICERS REPORTS
Chris Bromley then spoke about a new classification of model aircraft "ultralights" and how they could fit into new bylaws.

Derek Gilbert (Area Treasurer) stated that we had not spent a great deal last year and that we had received a slightly increased Area's grant.

Tom Anyon asked what had happened about the suggested bibs? Chris Bromley could afford to buy bibs but that numbering them incurred a set-up fee for each bib that was excessive. The meeting agreed that we should look into purchasing some.

ACTION AREA TREASURER

Keith Barker (NW Area Webmaster) asked if the Area was still planning to hold a Child Protection Roadshow. Chris Bromley said that he thought that it was needed and that we should try for a date in September. Alan Cantwell said that he thought that Haigh Hall might be a suitable venue, and that he would make enquiries about booking it. The meeting discussed dates and came up with the 17th October 2004 for the seminar.

ACTION ALAN CANTWELL

David Lloyd Jones (Area PRO) said that he had been booked to give talks to several NW Area clubs.

Geoff Pomfret (Area Scale Comp Sec) stated that plans were well advanced for the Eddie Riding Competition, but that a rapier trophy was needed. Chris Bromley asked Geoff to enquire about local authority "Trophy Grants".

ACTION AREA SCALE COMP SEC

Roy Allam (Area Ach Sch Co Ord.) reminded the meeting that Longsdon MAC wanted to move Area's. He also outlined some problems with a Midlands Area ACE operating in the NW Area without permission. Chris Bromley stated that he had spoken to Peter Spurway on the matter, and that it seemed that there was some confusion over boundaries. The meeting agreed that these problems must be solved.

Chris Bromley stated that the electric "up and away" would be produced in 3 to 4 weeks.

6) COUNCIL MINUTES & AGENDA
As Chris Bromley was now standing in as Hon Sec the Area need a alternate Chairman for the next Council meeting. Steve Ogden volunteered to attend.

There followed a spirited debate on the Northern Area's proposal. The meeting was in total agreement that our delegate should vote against this proposal. Chris Bromley and Steve Ogden who would both also be there, agreed to do the same.
