The North West Area will be meeting on Tuesday 1 February 2005 at 8.00pm
in the upstairs meeting room of the Millstone public house, Golborne.
Why not come along
See how the BMFA maintains contact with clubs such as yours in the area
Learn what is going on in the modelling world
Take your chance to put your clubs views forward on national policies and how the BMFA is run
Bring any points or problems your club has for discussion, advice or referral to the BMFA for assistance
Spend an evening with other likeminded modellers, you will be most welcome
If you or another club member attends regularly then mileage expenses can be claimed from the area
If you can't come to the meetings, usually 1st or 2nd Tuesday (see minutes attached) would one of your members be interested - please pass this on to them

The meeting was a short meeting held after the Area Annual General Meeting and only "any other business" raised by the meeting was discussed.

Additional Proficiency Certificates
The meeting agreed to support a certificate for indoor/ free flight/ control
line to encourage beginners to progress as part of the education programme.
Child protection Policy
CB stated that clubs should be looking to implement the BMFA policy.
The meeting was informed that councils may well ask to see the club's policy
when renewing licences/leases in the future and there is also some concern that
insurers may not even cover club committees under this heading if the club does
not have a formal policy in place.
Planning Applications
The recent planning appeal that was heard in the west country was discussed.
Whilst the appeal failed, it is important that the objections the BMFA countered
were all rejected and no precedent set which would cause difficulties for any
other club anywhere in the country in the future.
It is important that all clubs with planning problems contact the BMFA office
as soon as they are aware of a potential problem for advice/ assistance and
in particular do not enter any appeal until it has been vetted by the BMFA.
