Matters Arising
CB confirmed that the third party insurance required by EU law for over 20 kilo
models is provided by the BMFA cover. It is now proposed that the suggested
by-law may now refer to up to 750 gms. The meeting was informed that Eric Clark
had kindly offered to run the Eddie Riding this year. C Cheshire proposed and
Fylde Coast seconded that E C be formally appointed Free Flight Secretary. Voting
unanimous.
Officer's Reports
The Treasurer reported that we have received the funding from the office for
next year approx £110 more than last. The draft accounts for 2004 show
a surplus of about £1,000 of which £300 has been earned from the
sale of goods. The Treasurer also reported that he had agreed with the I Revenue
that this sale of goods profit remained tax free .
The Chairman noted that one club had been in touch to say that the Zurich insurance
cover was going up by 3 times . This may well bring more clubs to affiliate.
It was also noted that on this years club list are 2 "LMA" clubs.
PRO noted he had given one club talk.
Council Agenda
Areas Council meeting 5 Feb.
The minutes of the meeting were reviewed. Principle points being:
All tests for examiners must be arranged through the area scheme coordinators.
NE area member to member insurance claim was discussed and clubs should note
that the difficulties that arose should not have been a problem if the claim
had been passed to the office to progress at the outset.
Full Council meeting agenda 7 May.
The agenda was reviewed, CB noted the clashes with the nationals and other international
events were unfortunate, but felt that there was little we could do and J O'D
noted his concerns with late team member changes in team events.
The delegate was not instructed as to his vote.
Area Fly-in and competitions
KB reported that the indoor fly-in went well with about 43 attending.
The posters should have referred to insurance needed for all flyers, including
free flight. Lack of tables was not a problem.
A written report from E Clark regarding the progress with the Eddie Riding was
read out and well received. The Secretary was asked to let EC know that we would
be more than happy to fund D Jones for the cost of materials for the painting.
T A stated that he did not want reimbursement for the lettering on the bibs.
DLJ stated that we would be limited to 50 flyers + helpers again at Shawbury.
Date fixed at 24 July. Focus to be "Club Scale" or Semi Scale. Meeting
agreed to fund the local club up to £50 as well as the donation £100
to RAF for the field.
Web Site
CB explained why the office did not want the Risk Assessment form and advice
to be in the public domain. This is still available to clubs on request from
the office. KB noted that it had now been removed from the area web site.
G F noted that he was pleased with the layout and content of the area web site.
Any Other Business
Academy Fliers raised the Roy Lever Memorial event. Proposed Fylde coast (S)
C Cheshire Voting unanimous that the area support the event as a joint club
and BMFA event.
