Following the Annual General Meeting of the area on 12 December 2006 a short informal area meeting was held.
Area Meetings
The following dates were agreed for the 2007 area meetings:

16th October
All meetings to be held at the Millstone public house, Golborne, commencing
8.00pm
Child Protection
CB referred to a letter in the RCM&E and informed the meeting that the writer
was in error and whilst the 1999 act does not apply to us, we still have responsibilities
and need to have club policies in place both for the club/members benefit as
well as ensuring the club insurance cover is not restricted. He expects the
BMFA will reply.
KB asked if an update of the BMFA child protection document had been progressed,
CB thought not.
A general discussion followed and several people wondered why we could not just
give clubs an example of a policy for them to use, rather than the multi page
document covering all aspects of the situation, much of which did not apply.
Several clubs who had policies in place did however state that they did not
find the document difficult and were able to put a suitable policy together
quite easily having read it!
Forum
Tyldesley raised misgivings regarding the operation of the Forum, both its content
and methods the BMFA have used to moderate it and addressed the meeting at some
length. There followed a general discussion on the topic and CB confirmed that
we needed the forum and for it to be run in a professional way, both the content
posted and the moderation. He was hoping that the situation was improving.
